The July 2023 edition of Construction Week Middle East features a cover story with Omar Shahzad, Group CEO of Meinhardt, which touches on how the firm is carving a significant niche in the Middle East, through a unique blend of expansion, investment in local talent and an unwavering commitment to sustainable practices.

Broadening operations in the Middle East, the group moved into a brand new office at Al Salam Tower, Dubai Internet City, which can accommodate up to 400 employees, doubling the current workforce. This expansion is a milestone for its global business and includes setting up two Global Centres of Excellence (CoE) in Dubai. The CoE for data centres is the first of its kind in the UAE, and its global CoE in Smart Cities continues to grow in the Middle East.

Noteworthy projects for Meinhardt in the region include NEOM’s Sindalah Island Four Seasons Hotel and Resort, where Meinhardt is acting as Lead Consultant; the award-winning Moro 2.0 Data Centre, the world’s largest solar powered Data Centre, as well as multiple projects across NEOM’s OXAGON region, and a significant infrastructure design project at NEOM’s Gulf of Aqaba.
