As one of the world’s few multi-disciplinary and truly integrated design, engineering, project and construction management firms, Meinhardt Group has focused on delivering innovative and highly cost-effective designs that prioritise our clients’ commercial objectives and global environmental concerns on equal basis.
In line with this, we have embarked on a carbon zero initiative and adopted the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to drive our operations to zero carbon across all our offices worldwide. The SBTi is a global body that supports businesses to set reduction targets in line with the latest climate science, and offers resources and guidance.
“Our goal is for all Meinhardt offices to become carbon neutral by 2030, and carbon zero by 2050 or earlier. We will implement this in steps, starting with a 35 per cent reduction of Meinhardt’s baseline GHG (greenhouse gas) value by end of 2024. In keeping with our mission, ‘Transforming Cities, Shaping the Future’, we constantly strive to fulfil our commitment to create a more sustainable and resilient future. We see every project undertaking as an opportunity to support a sustainable, digital and resilient community to spur socio economic development," said Mr Omar Shahzad, Group CEO, Meinhardt Group.
Mr Brendan Smith, Chair of Meinhardt’s Global Carbon Zero Committee commented: “As a global multi-disciplinary professional services firm, we have a leading role to play in mitigating the potentially devastating impact of climate change. In addition to our own operations, there is an opportunity for our industry to make a significant contribution to this effort from the selection of materials to the evolution of smart building solutions to greatly reduce our clients’ own carbon footprint. Meinhardt is committed to being part of this global movement.”
