Organised concurrently with the Meinhardt Singapore 50th Anniversary celebration, Meinhardt Group held its highly anticipated Global Management Conference and Workshops on 11 and 12 September, 2024, bringing together senior leaders, engineers and specialists from our offices worldwide to share insights, strategise for the future, and foster collaboration across regions and disciplines. This year’s event was a transformative opportunity for our leadership to solidify the company’s strategy and reinforce its role in shaping a future-ready built environment.
This year’s theme — Embracing Digital Culture, Harnessing Intelligent Technologies —resonated throughout the conference and workshops.
The day-long conference, which took place at Shangri-La Hotel, not only celebrated the Group's achievements but also laid a roadmap for the future, emphasising digital transformation, sustainable urban development, and innovation in design, planning, engineering, and project and construction management. The attendees included senior leaders and key executives from Meinhardt's global offices, all of whom contributed their deep insights and expertise to a robust series of presentations.
The event kicked off with an address by Omar Shahzad, Group CEO of Meinhardt, who emphasised the importance of continued innovation in urban planning and engineering to meet the demands of an increasingly interconnected and digitised world. His opening remarks set a clear tone for the day’s discussions, focusing on leveraging cutting-edge technology and new business models to maintain Meinhardt’s leadership in the global infrastructure and engineering arena.
Following our Group CEO’s remarks, Terence Kok, Executive Director, Technology & Innovation, who spearheads Meinhardt’s digital transformation efforts, presented the Group’s new AI-powered digital platform which aims to revolutionise the way cities are planned and managed, using artificial intelligence and machine learning to provide real-time analytics and predictive modeling for urban landscapes. This platform will empower cities and our clients to optimise resources, reduce carbon footprint, and achieve more sustainable outcomes.
Ruchi Bhatia, Executive Director, Energy & Sustainability, followed with a presentation on “Re-Shaping Urban Landscape to Support Net Zero Carbon Ambitions.” She outlined how Meinhardt is at the forefront of driving net zero initiatives, working with governments and private enterprises to build eco-friendly urban spaces. Her session emphasised that sustainability is not merely a goal but a continuous journey for Meinhardt, as the company strives to meet the global push toward decarbonisation and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
As the conference unfolded, the spotlight shifted to Meinhardt’s growing capabilities across its key business sectors. Vinesh Natali, Managing Director, shared an updated strategy for the Group’s Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) business, outlining new markets and partnerships. He also explored how Meinhardt’s expansion in the EPCM space provides end-to-end project solutions, enhancing the company's offerings in urban planning, construction, and integrated project delivery.
The focus on key sectors continued with a discussion led by Piyush Arya and Alberto Lopez on rebooting Meinhardt’s SBG (Strategic Business Group), particularly its role in lead consultancy and aviation. As airports and aviation hubs continue to expand, Meinhardt is prepared to lead the way in delivering innovative infrastructure that meets new global aviation standards.
One of the standout presentations came from Ehab Ibrahim, Regional Director, Meinhardt MENA. His session, “New Trends & Requirements for High Performance Green Data Centers,” delved into how the Group is addressing the rise in demand for green data centers. As cloud computing and data management continue to grow exponentially, Meinhardt’s ability to integrate sustainable practices into data center design positions the company as a key player in this burgeoning market.
The conference also featured a series of workshops that were designed to provide more focused and in-depth discussions on specific areas of Meinhardt’s global operations. These sessions saw a variety of topics covered by subject matter experts from across the Group’s diverse portfolio.
