Meinhardt Group CEO, Mr Omar Shahzad, participated as a speaker in the panel session entitled "Tourism Future: Sustainability, Inclusivity, and Wellness" at the GCC-ASEAN Economic and Investment Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The high-level panel featured influential leaders from ministries and private sectors across the Gulf Cooperation Council and Association of Southeast Asian Nations. They collectively discussed the evolving tourism landscape. Topics included strengthening regional cooperation, promoting eco-tourism, medical tourism, cultural heritage preservation, and supporting small businesses in the tourism industry.
Omar shared insights on key regional infrastructure projects that support sustainable tourism such as eco-resorts and renewable energy facilities to benefit local communities and environments. He highlighted how promoting inclusivity by developing inclusive services and facilities creates a competitive business advantage with investment opportunities. The panel also covered public-private partnership opportunities for investors in the tourism sector, and how regulatory environments with incentives for foreign investors can support sustainable tourism investment and development.
